What to know if you missed the application deadline

Most deadlines linked on the York website are for guaranteed consideration. But many York programs accept applications on a rolling basis until all spots are filled, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances. Although some highly competitive programs may have stricter deadlines, most faculties continue reviewing applications after the initial date.

Choosing a program when you're still undecided

Not sure what you want to study? That's completely normal and it shouldn't stop you from applying. York offers undecided or undeclared major programs that let you explore different courses and disciplines during your first year without committing to a specific major right away. The best part is that you'll still graduate on time!

By enrolling in an undeclared major, you gain the flexibility to discover your interests, try different subjects and make an informed decision about your major by the end of first year.

York's YU Explore Program for Undeclared Majors provides additional support through workshops, events and peer mentorship to help you navigate your options to declare a major confidently. Apply now, explore your options and find your fit while you're already on campus.

Application information for international students

If you're an international student, timing is everything. While you can continue applying past the deadline if your program is still accepting applications, it’s still important to apply as soon as possible.

Study permit processing times are long. The earlier you submit your application, the more time you'll have to secure your permit and prepare for your move to Canada.

Most international undergraduate students also need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) as part of their study permit application. Once you receive your letter of acceptance from York, even if it's conditional, it's suggested to apply for your study permit immediately.

York International offers webinars on study permit applications and is there to answer your questions at askinternational@yorku.ca. Help is available every step of the way!
