University life is super exciting but can also be stressful — especially during a global pandemic. To better support all students, York University has partnered with the keep.meSAFE Student Support Program (SSP) to offer a host of resources, including:
- Confidential support to students at no cost through the My SSP App.
- 24/7 real-time support via chat and telephone available anywhere in the world.
- Access to real-time and appointment-based counselling support in multiple languages by native speakers.
- Self-help resources available via the My SSP App on managing finances, health and well-being, building healthy habits, productivity and more.
My SSP App has language options in English, French, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese.
The app is now available to students located in all provinces across Canada and internationally.

Download the My SSP App from the App Store or Google Play or by scanning the QR code above. You can use the My SSP App to call or chat with a counsellor anytime, anywhere or access additional resources.
How Does the My SSP App Help Students?
keep.meSAFE connects all York students to the help they need on a 24/7 basis. The My SSP App can help with resources that address managing stress due to financial challenges, dealing with feeling lonely or homesick, facing tensions at home, harbouring suicidal tendencies, adjusting to life in Canada and more. The app can also help you build time management skills, manage anxiety about a public speaking assignment, deal with upcoming exams or disappointment with academic performance and find answers to concerns about postgraduation plans.
Keep.meSAFE also provides a ton of articles, podcasts and webinars on health and wellness topics and enables students to confidentially call or chat with counsellors who speak multiple languages, are from various cultures or have a shared experience for any school, health or general life concern.
Chat with a counsellor
Students can use the chat function to get in touch with a counsellor. When students initiate a chat, they will be greeted by a Clinical Care Representative who will confirm the student’s personal information before connecting them to a counsellor. All personal information provided will remain completely confidential.
Call a counsellor
When students call keep.meSAFE from the My SSP App, they will be greeted by an automated menu that will ask them to confirm the menu language option: English or French, the service options: emergency or support & services, and the intake language options: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, English or French. The selected intake language indicates the language students would like to use while speaking to a counsellor.
