Hey Lions! Summer is almost here and the Winter term is winding down, so we wanted to do of what you may have missed from the #YUBlog this term. We covered activities, entertainment, academics, career education and more! Whether you’re a current student, thinking about transferring to York or just looking for some things to do this summer, there is definitely a post from this past term for you.
Choosing York

Are you planning to transfer to York this year? If yes, it would be a good idea to follow our Transfer Student 101 Series. Here’s what you need to do before you apply and the application documents that you may need. Stay tuned for Part 3 of the series!
Activities

Are you a fitness freak, an artist, a music or theatre/film lover, or a bookworm? No matter what you like, you’ll be able to find something for you in our post, Summer Activities for Every Type of Student.
Entertainment
If you are looking for movie recommendations, check out our post from February, 15 Streaming Picks for Black History Month. Even though Black History Month is over, there are some fabulous recommendations in there that can be enjoyed at any time.

While I am all for staying motivated this summer, I do miss travelling. If you feel the same way, the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies has you covered. Enrol into the E-xplore the World with LA&PS program and virtually experience different countries from the comfort of your home!
Academics
If you are unsure of whether you should take summer courses, check out the Benefits of Taking Summer Courses. If you have decided to take summer courses, but don’t know which ones to take, here are Six Summer Courses You Might Not Know About. While there may not be spots available in some of the courses highlighted, keep an eye out for some of these courses in an upcoming term!
Careers
Getting involved is a great way to spend your summer, whether it is working or volunteering. Work/study helps you get some work experience while at university and test-driving careers that you may be interested in. We are work/study students here at the #YUBlog. Learn more about our experience as work/study students in our post, Student Experiences: Work/Study.
Future Planning

Although the future might seem a little vague right now, we can still be prepared to get ahead by staying focused, and planning for our future. Here are Six Ways to Plan Ahead and Everything You Need to Know Before Buying a Planner! These Five Useful Books for Every University Student will definitely help you in preparing yourself for the future!
Don’t forget to check out York’s virtual events calendar to know what’s happening in the upcoming months.
