Over the course of the Fall 2018 term, the #YUBlog team has published at least two blog posts a week—that’s over 30 posts! We know that it can be a lot to choose from when you are picking a post to read, so we have highlighted our top five favourite blog posts or series since September 2018 to help you along.

1.  “Your Top 10 York U Resources”

One of the most important blog posts we’ve released in the past few months is the #YUBlog’s “Your Top 10 York U Resources.” This blog post highlights some key support services that every York U student should know and take advantage of, some of which include:

2. Learning Commons Series

Most students walk right past some of the Learning Commons’ most valuable resources as they go about their day on campus. The #YUBlog team decided to highlight some of the important services offered through the Learning Commons in the hope that more students benefit from the knowledge and expertise these resources can offer, including:

Learning Skills Services

Learning Skills Services (LSS) is an academic support resource that helps students “learn how to learn” and improve their pre-existing skills. This service also fosters academic success by helping students build the skills required for all academic learning, such as time management and organizational skills and academic reading and note-taking skills. LSS is available to all students, graduate and undergraduate, from any program, at any level of study.

The York U Writing Centre

The Writing Centre is a writing instruction service available to all York U students during any stage of their writing process. It’s primarily responsible for guidance in writing and seeks to develop student writers by discussing opportunities for improving a piece of writing.

Once you work with an experienced writing instructor, you may learn how to enhance your writing abilities, better understand assignment expectations and improve your outline. You can even get help with general formatting and citation concerns!

York U Libraries

There are eight York University Libraries across the Keele and Glendon Campuses, and each one will help you find the information and resources you need to succeed with your readings, assignment or exam!

Look at the map below to find the library best suited for your needs:

Career Peer Educators

The Career Centre has introduced a new peer-led program in the Career Lounge: Career Peer Educators! Career Peer Educators are current York U students who are excited to work with you and help you as you embark on your career journey.
