Hi there! You’ve reached an older post on the #YUBlog that may no longer contain relevant or up-to-date information. For the latest posts on York University go to our homepage where you can also search for posts by topic.

Whether you’re looking to get in shape, bond with friends or learn new fitness skills, Tait McKenzie is the place to go! You can choose between the free, basic membership or the $15 per academic year fitness student membership, making Tait McKenzie a more affordable option than most Toronto gyms.

Group Fitness Activities

If you decide to go for the fitness membership, there is a good variety of group drop-in fitness classes to keep you busy! Check out the summer schedule, which runs from May 15 to August 18 2017.

Summer Swim Times

Summer is the perfect time to go to the beach and bask in the sunlight. But on those rainy days, know that there is an alternative swim destination at Tait!

There are designated times for leisure swims as well as lane swims so make sure you check the schedule to find what you are interested in prior to stepping out of the house.

Access to the pool can be attained with the basic or fitness membership. More information can be found on the York Lions Spring/Summer 2017 Recreation Guide.

Casual Recreational Sports

Looking to play a great game of pickup soccer in between summer classes? Tait McKenzie is hosting free pickup basketball, soccer and badminton games throughout the summer! From May 1 to August 31, stop by Fieldhouse East and West during the designated times to meet new friends who are as passionate about the same sport as you are.

For more information, visit the York Lions Spring/Summer 2017 Recreation Guide.

Ensuring that you get enough exercise is vital in maintaining your mental and physical health. It helps decrease stress, improve concentration and increase your energy. So, grab that gym bag, put on your running shoes and check out all the great events that Tait Mackenzie has going on this summer at York University. Your mind and your body will thank you for it!

Hi Rebecca, Thank you for the blog post. I am wondering if you know about any other outdoor pickup sports that happen in and around campus, given that there are so many fields! Do people organize pickup soccer, for example? Thank you!
