The Games were off to an amazing start with a spectacular Opening Ceremony, and they continue to delight us with every new medal. Yesterday, my colleague Rebecca and I got the chance to see one of the most anticipated sports of the Parapan Am Games, women’s wheelchair basketball!
The game, Canada versus Brazil, was full of fury, strength and determination. It was incredibly interesting to watch, particularly for people completely new to the sport like us. In the end, Team Canada won 82-51, unpacking a barrage of cheers and whistles from a refreshingly passionate crowd of red and white. Truly exhilarating.
As always, we nabbed some photos for your viewing pleasure. Check ’em out below:
Our first time at a wheelchair basketball event was a great experience, and we look forward to the rest of what Parapan Am has to send our way. There’s a lot more to come, so be sure to stay with us on our adventure through the Games.
As always, if you find yourself at any of the remaining events throughout the week, throw us a picture or tweet us at @YorkUStudents. The more perspectives the better!
