Hey everyone 🙂
I know I’ve done a couple of posts about getting involved online but I couldn’t resist doing a post just for the York community on Tumblr.
Tumblr is social media website, much like Facebook or Twitter. The main difference is that you are given a whole website to run and to blog as you please. You have total control of the design of your website, you can choose whether you write your own posts or whether you just want to share posts that you like. You can follow other Tumblr blogs whose posts will be compiled into a ‘dashboard’ just like your Facebook or Twitter feed.
Tumblr is an introverts haven.
While it can be an excellent website for non-introverts, from my personal experience I think that Tumblr is a great resource to start getting involved and form some amazing friendships in a less confrontational manner. Each user is given their own inbox which makes it super easy to message other Tumblr users – logged in OR anonymously.
I’ve made more friends through Tumblr these past two years than I have in any other way 🙂
The best part is that there is an impressive York community on Tumblr. Bloggers can find other York U students through the tagging system.
#YorkU and #YorkUniversity are the two main tags that are used.
Below are some prominent York related Tumblr blogs. Feel free to add your own URL in the comments! I’ll share mine with anyone that shares theirs 🙂
York U Life is a York community blog that I launched. I’ve talked about it before but basically myself and some other admins answer questions from the York community. We also have resources such as useful articles related to Student Life. We have fun events and we are constantly thinking up new features for our readers. Anyone is welcome to send York U Life an ask (a message) about anything. Even if you need help networking or forming friendships, don’t hesitate to send a message 🙂
