It’s the most wonderful time of the year again; it’s the time when offers of admission start to gradually be sent out to future York students. Once you receive an offer of admission, it’s important to know what the necessary next steps are, and to make sure you follow through with them as soon as possible.
The first thing you should do after receiving an offer of admission is simply accept the offer. You can go about accepting your offer should your MyFile or through OUAC. It is important to accept your offer by the deadline stated on your offer of admission in order to avoid having your offer withdrawn.
Offers may also be withdrawn if you fail to book your enrolment appointment by the stated deadline, which means it’s important to book your appointment as soon as possible. What is an enrolment appointment exactly? Well, every new incoming student must attend an enrolment appointment before they can enroll in their courses. The appointments are held in-person, unless you live outside of the Greater Toronto Area. Students who live outside of the GTA will automatically be offered an alternative enrolment appointment, which is usually conducted via e-mail. During your appointment you will meet with an academic adviser who will go over your academic schedule, your academic requirements and answer any questions you may have regarding your courses. The appointment also allows you to enroll in your courses for the upcoming academic year and construct your timetable. Students can book their enrolment appointment using their MyFile account.
After you’ve accepted your offer and booked and attended your enrolment appointment, be sure to keep your grades high, book a campus tour if you haven’t done so, and keep anticipating orientation. September will be here before you know it!
