On March 6, Lions women’s basketball player Cyrielle Recoura was named an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) first-team all-star and a member of the OUA East all-rookie team.

Several Lions teams been making York proud as they rack up awards and roar up the standings.

On February 22 the York University men’s track and field team finished in fifth place at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships, while the women’s team placed sixth. The Lions won a total of seven metals at the championships, held at the University of Windsor. Visit the Lions website for a full list of mentalists.

The York University Lions women’s volleyball team fell just short of the OUA gold metal, losing to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in a close 3-2 final on February 22. The women placed second, winning a silver metal. In addition, Lions women’s volleyball player Brandie Wilkerson was named the Canadian Interuniversity Sport second-team all-Canadian at the annual CIS awards banquet on February 27. Wilkerson has earned many other awards over her past three years as a Lion, including OUA rookie of the year in 2011.

Wilkerson isn’t the only lady Lion who has been making big waves. On March 6, rookie basketball guard Cyrielle Recoura was named an OUA first-team all-star and a member of the OUA East all-rookie team. Congratulations Cyrielle!
