With the holiday break quickly approaching, it’s time start thinking about making a holiday to-do list. For students considering coming to York next year, your list should include figuring out what required documentation you need for your York application. Students are encouraged review York’s required documentation page, along with the admissions requirements page, in order to be fully aware of all the documentation that needs to be submitted.
Some, but not all, programs require documents other than your transcript or grades. It’s important you’re fully aware of everything that needs to be submitted for the programs you’re applying to. The additional information you must submit is dependent upon what kind of student you are and what programs you’re applying to.
It’s important to note that if you are applying for a program that is offered in English and have not completed four full years of study in Canada in English at the secondary-school level, or in a country where English is a primary language, you must demonstrate your language proficiency in English. Of course there are exemptions to this rule, however proof of language proficiency can be provided by submitting an acceptable language test score. If you have taken any post-secondary classes outside of North America, you must also submit course descriptions for those courses.
If you are thinking of applying to either the Schulich School of Business, Social Work (as non-Canadian high school applicant), or Education or , you must submit a supplementary information form. These forms can be found online and must be submitted by the stated deadlines in order to be considered for your program of choice. Students who are interested in any Fine Arts programs must also submit a supplementary application form, which will be available starting December 1.
Mature and visiting students can view their required documentation for application on the required documentation website.
Be sure to fully review the required document page of York’s website to see if there is anything you may have missed. The documents you must submit are dependent upon the program you’re applying to and what kind of student you are (Ontario high school, international etc.). In addition to the required documents page, please review York’s admission requirements to ensure you submit all necessary documentation. Documentation varies for international students depending on the country you’re coming from, so it is important to review the requirements carefully. Please feel free leave questions regarding additional documentation.
